Max Talent is a 2-year place-and-train programme by the The Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (ASME) to place Singaporean Professionals, Managers and Executives (PMEs) into Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Today, SMEs hire more than 60% of our workforce. Many of the SMEs offer interesting and good careers for PMEs that are often not made known or explored by many jobseekers. Through this programme, interested PMEs can widen their job opportunities and find out more about career opportunities in SMEs, and receive assistance to apply for, and be job-matched to these jobs.

Any Singaporean PME who is interested to work and explore careers in SMEs. All applicants may be required to attend briefings and undergo some interviews or pre-screening activities by ASME. All PME applicants will also be interviewed by the hiring SMEs.
Through Max Talent, PMEs can find out more about career opportunities in SMEs. Suitable PMEs will be job-matched to openings in SMEs by ASME. As SMEs typically require talents who are well-versed in a range of management skills, PMEs once hired by the SMEs will attend a 3-day Talent Workshop to learn the necessary basic management skills in six key work-related areas:
- Leadership
- Problem solving
- Performance management
- Finance & HR
- Presentation & communication
- Customer service
As part of the programme, the PMEs, together with their SME employers, with assistance from ASME, will also jointly identify work goals and deliverables, and plan their development roadmaps. This will help both PMEs and SMEs better understand the expectations of each other, and serve as a useful checkpoint for both parties over the first six months of hiring.
As the Programme Partner for Max Talent, ASME will also provide guidance and assistance to the newly-hired PMEs and their SME employers for up to six months after they have been on the job. All SMEs who hire PME talents through the programme will also be eligible for a one-off Assistance Grant1 administered by ASME to better manage and retain their PME talents.
